Hello everyone,
Sorry its been so long since I posted any work. If you all dont mind reading for a few minutes, I'll fill you in on what's been going on.
Well, I just finished another semester in the FIT Toy Design program. In a few weeks I will be heading to Rhode Island for another internship with Hasbro this summer. I'm really excited to go back.
For the last few months, I've been doing some freelance work for the Four Horsemen. For those of you who don't know, the Horsemen are a really talented group of toy designers that have their own line of products as well as their DC Universe figure work for Mattel. What I have been doing for them is prototype hand painting. Its a lot of fun and the guys are great. Here is their site: [link] check out their work, its great.
Now that school is done for a few months, I'm hoping to get back to some much needed comic work. I've started a new page that I'm really enjoying and it should be posted soon. I'm also hoping to do a lot more digital work this summer. At school I've learned a lot more Photoshop and Illustrator techniques that I have been applying to my work. I've also been using a new program called Sketch Book Designer. It has layers just like PS so the flies can be swapped from one program to the other. The cool thing about Designer is that you can bend a graydiant layer to conform to the shape of an object. In one of my new posts, The Vulture, I use both programs. I've also been using a 3D program called Solid Works. Its great for making vehicles and models.
I've also been getting into sculpting, both traditional and digital. I've been using a product called Casteline. Its a lot like wax but without that waxy feeling. The Horsemen use it for their sculpts and its really common in the Toy industry. It can be heated up and carved with metal dental and sculpting tools. I've also downloaded a program called Mudbox for 3D sculpting. I know most work is done digitally now but I'm hoping that learning both will make me that much better.
Well I think thats about it. I hope you enjoy the new posts. Keep your eye out for more. As always, your comments are much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks.
-Bobby
